Mount Rundle Sunrise
Banff National Park, Alberta
On a crisp spring morning jagged Mount Rundle is reflected in the smooth waters of the second Vermillion Lake near Banff in the Rocky Mountains. Five minutes earlier it seemed that any promise of a remarkable sunrise had vanished. However, I waited longer and was rewarded with a burst of pastels in purple and pink before the sun finally rose behind the mountains to the left.
Landscape photography can be a thankless task, with many early mornings or late nights wasted when the light doesn’t cooperate and you walk away with no images. But every now and then you get rewarded with colours like these and it all seems worthwhile again.
